Just a note to explain what the lorry drivers think of limiters .

we did not want them although we probably mostly agree it stopped some of the idiots driving their 44 ton trucks too fast ( same people who drive their cars too fast and have not got a clue as to the damage they can do to themselve's or other until it's too late ) most limiters are set somewhere between 52 mph and 56 mph but they are not all calibrated by the same garage , so a 56 mph one from a volvo garage may be slightly slower than a 56 mph one from say a scania garage , hence when overtaking they just about crawl by each other , the other thing to remember is if i come gradually up to another truck over the course of say 10 miles and he is just a teeniest bit slower than me i will try to get past him as soon as poss , if the guy is a decent bloke he will ease off a tad and let me through , if not and we hit a bank it can take a age , it is very tedious , some of the less savi drivers then use the weight of their load to get more speed up down the hill and leave the overtaking lorry 500 yards back in the middle lane so they have to start the whole process again .

It is designed to save fuel but it just causes bunching and it can be very frustrating for faster traffic on two lane carriageways , we know this and most of us try to cause as little obstruction to other road users as possible , a friendly wave or smile is all that is needed to keep the smiles flowing and angry nob heads in the minority .

I don't doubt for one minute that most truckers are fine, and consider the needs of other road users. You may or may not be one of these; I know not.
What I saw, in those exact circumstances, was funny to me. I chuckled out loud. If that's enough for you to ignore my further posts then so be it. I doubt I'll lose sleep over it, it's only the Internet.

Nice. Anyway, back to my legs:
On the beach a couple of years ago some lads (probably about 12 years old) ran past chucking a rugby ball about. One of them took one look at my legs in a wetsuit and shouted "Ere mister, last time I seen legs like they, they was hanging out of a nest!"
Chased the cheeky little sod for miles much to the amusement of my mates.

Wrong and wrong. Well done. You'd probably struggle to be more wrong but as you haven't read the posts (yeah right) you wouldn't have seen them.

i really do not like bad drivers , the law of averages are against me , i spend up to 45 hours a week in my truck driving , sometimes more when i do ot , and a lot of other time sitting in yards depots etc - it only takes one idiot on the road or a depot to deprive my lads of a dad D !

That's why i get a bit defensive at times , sorry

  17. bloody hell guys! I wonder if people would have these attitudes if face to face with each other or its just forum freedom of speech, behind a screen!!:rolleyes:

    What does appreciation mean again??

Ive got respect for lorry drivers! I end up sitting behind them on the motorway and they reduce the drag while driving through the air in my mk1 golf, (not very aerodynamic)

plus the world would pretty much grind to a halt without haulage and logistics so thumbs up to you guys.

You cant really say that lorry drivers are a problem on the road when the amount of cars that sit in the middle lane on the motorway is equally as stressful and dangerous as any issue lorries give.

    my 2p

now cant we all just get along?

We've met and yes we would....
Not sure of the relevance of people who hog the middle lane, but I agree they are equally as annoying.
    ;-)

  19. I always sit behind one when i'm driving my van. Its a nice gentle speed, i keep out of peoples way, and i fool myself that i'm an F1 Driver sitting in the slipstream. I can see BS's point and it does pee me off when they overtake eachother and the fella being overtaken doesn't play the game and makes it take even longer. However i drive my daily on cruise control and i've lost count of the number of times i've went to overtake someone and when i've pulled along side they have sped up. There are divvies all over! ;)
