And people who slated us holding the Olympic games I say you were wrong, Its been amazing so far, The crowds at the venues are brilliant, People are coming together as one to cheer an embrace our countries finest, young people will be inspired by whats happening here, as of late young people looked up to so called celebrity types, people who craved fame for doing nothing special apart from sing a song on x factor and the like, well now their finding out what real glory is and I hope it continues, Before the games started all we heard was negative stuff about the cost and traffic chaos and people being put out by them well sometimes the greater good of the nation must come first and I think its been worth it, our country needed this injection of pride and long may it continue

I agree. It's been great. Some issues with tickets and seats but if they have been bought and the people not turned up then so be it.

The only thing that was upsetting was the venomous attack on twitter towards Tom Daley. He had a vision and a goal years ago that he would be here at the 2012. How dare that person on twitter say what he did. He's given his parents NOTHING to be proud if I'm sure. Tom has been an excellent role model.

  6. I never doubted that the event running and sports would be successful. Dont the ticketing issues happen with every olympics? I think they were obligated to issue the tickets to other countries olympic commitees etc.

I just hope that the 'Legacy' promise comes true and that the sports facilities such as the swimming pool are made available for community use after the games. Its worrying that the olympic stadiums built for previous games in other countries have gone into disuse afterwards.

I'm loving it. I must admit I started to watch the opening ceremony with some trepidation but I loved it.

The coverage has been amazing with all the online stuff and red button choices. I guess that with all the time allocated to reporting these days it was inevitable that some negative aspects would turn up, but they seem to be getting swept away by the mood as the GB team perform so well.

I think last night will take some beating :)

  9. I have to say that from the outset, I was very sceptical about the whole thing, and had a very "take or leave it" attitude.
Being incapacitated for the forseeable future, I thought that I may as well watch some of the TV coverage...
Now I find it hard to tear myself away from the television! Last night had me as close to the edge of my sick chair as I could get.
A big "Well Done" to the organizers, and an even bigger one to Team GB.

  11. I was pleased when it was announced seven years ago that GB had won the games but wasn't to bothered about watching it but since it's started if I've been in the house the tv has been on and I've sat mesmerised by all the sportsmen and women who have taken part

  12. It is a lot better than I thought it would be - buoyed up of course by the remarkable number of GBR wins :)

  13. I think it was a given that the sports were always going to be outstanding, after all thats what its all about at the end of the day,and I have been amazed at the skills on show from every aspect. Its just the corporate hoo ha that dissapoints, as ever. As a fag smoking beer drinking armchair athlete I am enjoying every minute and as Moons says we still have the paralympics to look forward to.

I for one was sceptical of the Olympics running successfully, I'll honestly admit that.

When we was at Summercamp, we all sat round the Opening Ceremony and the effort that went into it was amazing, it was pulled off with (what looked like) ease and the whole spectacle was tremendous.

Although I'm not a big fan of sport, the british team have done lots of pre olympic training and it is showing by the dedication they have all shown - respect to them all, you have/are doing your country proud!

Rebecca Adlington, Jessie Ennis and the other team members - you should be proud to have achieved what you have, your doing brilliantly!

To the Riley guy - go back under the stone to which you came from, the country can do without the likes of you

  16. I agree. Anyway, the doubters were the media. They always home-in on anything negative and blow it entirely out of proportion. It's just like Euro 2012 - they said there'd be loads of trouble in Ukraine, racism, a load of violence and all that, going as far as telling England supporters not to go. As a result, tens of thousands didn't go. At the time I thought 'that's funny, they're not describing the Ukraine that I know and love'. Seems the media got it totally wrong. Pretty shameful and ridiculous stuff, if you ask me. The only trouble was in Poland - punch ups between the Russians and Polish; and that's been going on since 1940 and you're never going to avoid that when they get together. Even stuff like the worldwide economic situation - the media have a lot to blame about that too, promoting nothing but fear and negativity. Quite shocking really. And folk fall for it eveytime.

  18. The London 2012 team have done an outstanding job!

As excited as I was that we'd won the games, I was anxious as to how well we'd pull it off (especially after the handover in China being such rubbish).

But - from the opening ceremony through to now I have been hooked. And the transport system has held up (helped by all of the preparation and people working from home) which was my main worry.

I have to say it's bizarre going into London though - it's pretty empty but everyone's cheerful and friendly - it's nice but off-putting when you're used to grumpy as the default setting...

I am also really looking forward to the paralympics - we have swimming tickets and athletics tickets and I think the atmosphere will carry forward and make it the best paralympics ever staged. 1million paralympic tickets have been sold in the last 3 weeks apparently by people eager to experience the atmosphere.

If I have one criticism it is that with the exception of the 'big screen' areas there is no atmosphere in central London. We went out last Friday to see if we could find some atmosphere and wandered around central London. It was quiet and there was nothing going on - you get a better sense of things by watching the TV.

They could have put something on at Trafalger Square or just had the games showing in all the pubs or something...

But beyond that everyone's got a massive grin on their faces

I'm glad we've shown the world what we can do. It was a bit embarrasing when there was nothing but bad press about the English. It doesn't look good for a nation to fall apart and more Simon a time of economic melt down. Who'd want to invest in the UK with all that going on??

Anyway, "Way To Go" and if anyone watched the 2012 mocumentry they will understand that
