  1. @poptop2 .....has yours got that accelerator set up ^^^ ?

....another 72/73 part to add to your list?

  2. I think it is - there's certainly no spring under the floor on my setup. Mind you, there was no return spring on my handbrake when I bought the bus either.

I have seen something on VZi about adapting the mechanism with rose joints, not sure whether that would improve things?

However, I think my pedal problems are mostly to do with the fact that some numpty welded my accelerator pedal hinge in the wrong place, so the pedal angle is very steep.

  3. I fitted a stronger spring, the supplied one seemed a bit limp

this may help working out the above, from reading this it seems to fit the top left only?

  4. @Diddymen The Buttysbits assembly comes with a return spring for under the floor, although there isn't one as stock. It does help. You could fit your own spring anyway - just find somewhere to drill a small hole and get a spring the right length to reach between the linkage and the fixed point.

  5. think mine might be the top right - 73-76 as it has the little plate and retaining bracket for the 'tube' ....but it could equally be parts of top left

...might have a look and see if I can add a spring, cant work out if buttysbits does a rose joint for my set up

  6. Top left the tube is underneath the van, top right its inside in the footwell

  7. Mine is the top right one in RHD.

  8. His kits get nothing but great reviews and im not suprised as they are well engineered using good components

Its been a while since i looked but if hes doing lhd late bay kits now?
Then i wouldent hesitate to buy one

  9. Looks like he only does LHD Early and Late kits and RHD Early, so not the two on the right

  10. There are so many different combinations , it makes my head hurt .
For the rhd late buses using the little S shaped pushrod under the pedal i do a rose jointed adjustable length rod now , not listed but will be soon , as to the spring return im looking into it , i think you could use the earlybay one i do . As i think it needs to be fairly long . I have also found out recently that there is a different swivel section setup for lhd fuel injected models aswell ...... There is a few shots of the RHD pushrod here . https://www.facebook.com/ButtysBits/photos/pcb.817413161621046/817413148287714/?type=1&theater

  11. Could you post something on here when these are ready, as I would be interested in one of these kits.

  12. Which kit ? injected version ?

  13. RHD with rose-jointed pushrod mechanism you mentioned above, compatible with the top right picture (RHD 1973-76)

  14. I do have the small rose jointed part in stock if interested mail me at buttsworth@live.co.uk and will sort you one out .

  15. @butty emailed you a couple of weeks ago about the 73 to 76 set up. The pedal pushrod is all well and goodbut theres insufficient travel on the standard linkage - particularly if using bell- crank linkages. The limiting factor is the legth of the cable arm on the end of the crossrod. It needs to be longer. Extending the pedal pushrod doesnt do a lot other than improve the pedal feel as the arm on the cross rod hits the floor. You cant "lift " this as the caple arm on the other end sits against a stop! Only solution therfore is to extend the actuating arm (that the cable attaches to) to increase the amount of cable travel for the given pedal movement.

Hope that makes sense! Any chance of looking at this as its pretty common. Most with aftermarket carbs either dont know or bodge it. A proper solution would be very nice!!!

  16. @Dicky: I found that fitting the linkage with the rose jointed piece and the proper bearing on the crank arm (rather than the sloppy fit bush) gave me loads more actual movement on the cable as there was simply less slack in the pedal action. I had a longer arm fitted to give me more travel before fitting @butty's kit and was worried that the kit would not give me enough cable movement to get the butterflies fully open. In fact, I don't need all of the available travel now, simply because there is no wasted movement in the system.

@butty: When I first saw the kit I had assumed that the slot in the actuating arm was to allow adjustment of the position of the cable attachment. This would be a nice to have, so the pedal could be tuned to hit the floor at full throttle.

  17. Cheers mate. I had thought that all that was supplied was a pedal pushrod with rose jointed ends. Is there more to it?

  18. I don't know for your version. Even if it's just the single link piece, that will take some slack out of the system and help with your cable travel.

  19. Sorry I forgot - yours was different!

  20. I bought some M4 rose joints off ebay to do mine, haven't fitted them yet as its at the spray shop
