Well worth it @zed , best thing I got for mine as I winter camped loads, just leave it on all night on eleccy, can't hear it at all
Yep, but I went round the circle and I want whatever fan heater I have to be in the engine compartment, I've made holes, chopped out the wheel well and installed it. The 200E is Twice the size and just won't fit.
there's not much to them if you take one apart.....could make you're own casing if you can be arsed.....
It's still oval - ish at that point and doesn't get wider in the opposite axis, just squashed as you see it. I'd never have noticed but for you saying aftermarkets should flow better so I was looking for trouble.
Big holes. First the block being machined for the barrels... That was my engine case. And one head to show before and after cutting for the barrels. Whoppers!
If you go to such extremes and talk an engine builder into doing it (not that it took much because it's fun and interesting ) it's only fair to be very clear who you would regard as responsbile if it turns out to be a bad idea - me. "All" Rob can do is use his skills and experience to make the idea work as best it could and I'm going to be happy that what has been done could not have been done more carefully. The engine spec - std everything except the B&P's and some extra cooling is my fault. Low compression is Rob's "must" for the engine to aid cooling and discourage pre detonation of unburnt fuel, so that's the next stage, though obviously we've spent too many hours discussing this already. More to follow as and when.
The pics make it look easy, but to get to that stage with such big holes took a fair bit of tool making which Rob wouldn't have been doing otherwise (not right now at least). We seem to be sort of chopping off datum points as we go so it's got to be right first time. That's the royal we, much as I'd quite like to go and watch we'd end up talking about it more than doing it so I keep out the way. Besides, I wouldn't like being watched and having to explain everything I was doing on a one chance only thing like this - it inevitably increases the chance of it going wrong because you were distracted and missed something. And if it does, which from time to time happens to anyone, I like to have that solitary "Panama" moment. All went smoothly of course. Can't wait!
Jeez doesn`t look an awful lot left of the case ...is there any welding /beefing up to do in any areas ? i have a list of engines id love to build in my head but never going to physically do it ...good for you for giving it a go .... you dont think you`ll get any big end bearing issues ?
