So the final piece if the puzzle is to connect up the vacuum pipe for the new dizzy. Step 1: Ask Zed Step 2: Go to Stonor, buy pipe and look at how everyone else's is connected. Step 3: Come home, scratch head, scratch nuts, scratch head again, my carbs are nothing like the other buses! Aaaaarrrgh! Step 4: Post pictures on here so the wise and sage like persons of TLB can pontificate and offer advice. I'm also seeing the words Solex H40/44EIS. Is this a performance mod? Or a bode by PO? It goes really well on these so I'd prefer not to change them but can't see where to get the vacuum take off from unless I tap the manifold. (Against @Zed's advice)
Brosol carbs dude... (spits on the floor) You can see it just behind the manifold nut!! Normally they're riddled with vac take off ports
I believe there is a modification that can be done on these carbs where you drill out the indicated brass bush, I'm sure there is a write up on either Volkszone or the Samba. I'll try and find the link image by ckandjk, on Flickr
Hope this link may help http://www.volkszone.co.uk/VZi/showthread.php?t=426794&highlight=drilling kadrons for vac advance
Had a good read and a search. It seems that I have to have a vacuum take off from North of the throttle valve. So that's why the servo one won't work (still on max advance when decelerating) So with that idea I have drilled a hole in the carb body above the throttle valve and araldited a brass take-off from an old Mikuni in place. Will let it harden overnight and try it out tomorrow.
