I've been thinking about the rear tyres on my panel van (as you do) and was wondering if there is an optimum tyre size for performance/mpg etc... I'm currently running a 195 65 15 on a 5.5 brm and i'm thinking that it might be too tall. What rear tyres size would be a better option? any advice would be cool... thanks!

yeah dude, 1600tp. doesn't wanna really go much above 60 if that.... always the slowest thing on the motorway! :-[ what sorta performance should it be giving?
i think around 48 BHP as stock, if the engine is tired and done a lot of miles it could be a lot less
60 is really all you should be doing on a 1600... they will do 70/75, but be warned, it will spit its dummy and dump oil/guts all over the road!!
