The van formerly known as "Tootle"

  1. Yeah It was good to see and felt a little strange being careful around it after it being rough in my workshop for so long!

I love projects at this point as you start to forget about all the blood sweat and tears that went into getting it there (although still lots more of that required!)

When I see it with the bottom half on it will be a good day

  3. Thanks.

Pouring petrol on it and setting it on fire would have made it better than page 1 :D

At least then all the fibre glass, filler and 50kg f under seal would have been gone!

We felt the same when we first got Gusbus; we have been using him since March '15 and cannot wait to get out and about, the enjoyment we have from him was well worthwhile :D

  5. Well here you go, I'm really chuffed with it! I always said I've put far to much work into it but seeing it all clean and shiny makes it totally worthwhile.

The hours I spent cleaning up behind the rear vents wasn't wasted either as they look great.

Looking in the arches seeing everything like new and totally solid is a great feeling.

I'm going back with all the parts to hang the slider and engine lid tomorrow, hopefully be able to wheel it outside and see it under some natural light too.

  7. Ooooohhh shiny, looks really nice, there's not many colours I like on vans, but that green is lovely. All coming good. When you get it all back together you'll have to drop by, we'd have a pop over, but Amy is struggling to fit behind the wheel at the min :)

  8. Yeah will do mate hopefully be out and about late spring or early summer, I struggled to find an old colour I liked but once I saw this one (beryl green) I had to have it

  10. What colours have you gone for pls?
    Looks great!
    .. who's doing the paintwork?

  11. Beryl green L478 and pastel white LD90

It's a guy a few miles away from me in Hartlepool, it's been a project type job he's done as and when he gets chance. He owns his own building has virtually no overheads so is very reasonable too

  12. Amy should be ok by early summer, baby's due 3rd of March, so hopefully we'll be out and about by then. Will you be going to volkspower this year?

  13. Hopefully, I would like to do a few shows this year, just so busy with my work at the moment and now a camper to put back together!

I'm just gonna throw myself into getting it done and get on with enjoying it.

  14. That's the best thing, get it done and enjoy it. Drag the family along everyone's a winner.

  15. Yep, a couple with the family and a couple with my own weight in beer on board

  18. I gave all the sliding door parts a quick clean up ready to go and fit the door at the body shop.

Then once that was on and nicely adjusted we rolled it outside in the day light. Bit of a dull day but still nice to see it in day light.

Hopefully I will get it back to the workshop early next week to start the rebuild. Be ready for lots of anybody know where this goes type questions!
