  1. I was just about to say what a cool collection you've got too! after spotting Sabbath and the Doors, but noting the lack of Floyd and Led Zep

    Muppets, they rock :)

  6. just googled some of my records to see how much they are worth

.......not as much as I thought :(

saying that, the Lilac Led Zep one is on ebay for about £4 for one listing and £93 from a different seller!

and the rare Iron Maiden stuff I've got varies in price from 99p to £50!

I used to go to record fairs all the time looking for rare vinyl, I got a signed Alice Cooper album Billion Dollar Babies from one ......but when I got it home, I thought - how do I know Alice Cooper signed this and not the bloke who sold it to me forging it lol!!

  7. dean_butler . Have you taken the time to take a closer look at the artwork on the Iron Maiden vinyl albums? Particularly Powerslave and Somewhere in Time. Lots of small little gems hidden away.

Also, check out what people sometimes etch in the middle bit of the records, (the bit before you hit the paper) on the actual vinyl.

How do you know if something is a first press by the way?

In terms of good vinyl I have an M&S Jimi Hendrix album and a special edition Dark Side of the Moon.

I also collect what I call "tacky" records, not so much for the music as the covers.
Here's a couple I've picked up in the last few months

  12. I do a bit of DJ-ing so have a fair few 45s ... Mostly soul/funk/ska etc. albums too, although dont usually DJ with them.

I've also got must of my vinyl from when I was a kid .... Punk and new wave stuff.

And I inherited about 300 albums when my dad sued a few years ago ..... Mostly elvis, who he was very into.

To find out first press you have to look for the code then go to discogs and it will tell you when it was released

  14. haha thanks mate!
That coincidentally is my favourite album of theirs. I have to admit I rarely play any Abba these days - too busy listening to Radio 6 for inspiration and downloading mp3's to keep me awake for the long commute. I run out of music too quickly these days!:)

hippyrichy Yes especially the somewhere in time album. There is loads of history on that one. Did you watch the Flight 666 documentary?
