The cost of the Fracking protests

Ten police forces and £750.000 so far And by the look of the usual suspects who are there 90% wont be contributing to the bill, ain't there a tree hugging festival somewhere for them to go to so the rest of us can look forward to cheaper energy bills and fuel for the future

 

Let them protest. Companies can then drill in peace elsewhere. It was always going to be the next thing for rent-an-eco-protest to focus on, no escaping it, although they don't seem to have noticed that the drilling is for oil, not gas.

 

If anyone thinks they're going to get cheaper energy bills by the results of fracking, think again. Compared to even getting the hard to get oil from the ground as oppesed to the easy oil, the outlay and infrstructure needed is mind blowing. The pollution from chemicals involved as well is not something to be trifled with lightly. This country is far too small and there's too much at stake to even contemplate fracking here.

 

Cash cash cash. There's a damn sight more to life than a bulging wallet. We d all shop a Aldi and not have a VW that's for sure if it was the case.

 

And the cost of getting a moat cleaned on expenses was what?

 

and we'll be saving on house insurance as people find it difficult to insure their homes in fracking areas but that 'saving' will be offset by the negative equity as they can't sell their homes either. win, wi... oh.

 

Nonsense. I'd also have considerably cheaper energy bills if they canned subsidies for quite useless wind farms and suchlike.

A subject I need to know more about before I contribute fully to this discussion one way or another. I'm not sure exactly how much 'substantive' research has been done, what a fracking area means, the wider impact, etc etc etc. All to easy to shout ****dy tree huggers but if it was in my back yard I may feel the same way ... before anyone says it I realise some of these People dont actually live in the area concerned.

 

didn't 'big dave's' own energy dept DECC say that "it's not clear whether it will bring down energy bills or not"?
i hear the church of england are behind it 100% just as they are securing mineral rights .
but, big dave and c of e say it's ok so it must be.

 

Read that quite interesting but would like to see a bit more evidence from both sides before I draw my own conclusions.

 

Wind farms aside, I do know something of this working in the oil industry and the space alone required for extraction would blow your skunk like little avatar

Oh come on guys , I am old enough to remember when only trucks used diesel and it cost pennies(comparative to petrol) to purchase , and now? and the govt subsidy re those laying out to fit solar panels to there own gaff? funnily enough, subsidy slashed.(why?)but then I remember when money in the bank meant interest earned on same well , not anymore !.

Certainly, the energy policy of this gov't has been a shambles so far, so any improvement welcome.

I think this translated means: "we've blown hundreds of millions of your money subsidising loopy energy policies (including payments to Dave's dad) and would be hideously embarrassed if the extraction of shale gas actually worked"
