Techenders 2014 THANK YOU ALL! GREAT WEEKEND BEST EVER?

Discussion in 'Shows Events You've Missed unless you went' started by rickyrooo1, Mar 2, 2014.

  1. Keener.....

Looks like my Bristol convoy will be of 1 ....

@Baysearcher will probably leave at 7 am and drive at a million mph and get there before he leaves.
@Beaver is leaving so late on the Friday she'll get there after everyone has gone to bed, maybe.

Anyone from bristol fancy leaving after lunch for a sensible, aircooled friendly paced jaunt up to techenders?

'The greatest ever VW convoy for people going to techenders from the south/west (including Droitwich) of the British Isles'

to keep the main techendes thread clear.

  5. I am going to have a crack at doing a brake service and will bring the tools specified by Tuesday Wild Child for that - but not sure what a Long slim punch/drift is - what is that?

It's probably to knock the retaining pins out of the front calipers.
It's just a long thin tool that allows you to push the pin out. A small screwdriver should do it.

  7. Or another retaining pin!

Loads of us have done that. I shot a spark-plug on the way there, engine out, new head, new twin carbs, engine in, drove home!
To be fair it was the least enjoyable Techenders I've been to!

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Dunno about "meet" that makes it sound sort of official and organised , it's just a bunch of T2 owners in a field mucking about with buses, not connected to any forum, club or anything like that. There will be a core of people who've met before - mostly at this very event/meet/gathering thing and most didn't know anyone else the first time they came so we're all in the same boat or have been. Nobody bites, nobody judges, you can do as you please, join in as much or as little as you want, check out and admire each other's buses, have a beer round the fire, cook for yourselves or join in the takeaway run and ed's breakfasts. blah blah blah. Chilled is the word.

All free except for the cheap camping and Ed's breakfasts (book on arrival or later). Ed's the host with the most and has a few splitties tucked away in his barn so we're at the right place (purely by chance). This is most definately not a money making event - perish the thought!

It looks like there's a good few who want to learn a basic engine service so that's good. Assuming you know little or nothing, you'll go home with more of an idea how it works and what to look at if it doesn't. I might do join in the teaching for this but I've got a lot on "at home" at the moment so might just hide away and chill mostly. Servicing is straightforward though, someone will teach it. :)

    As you were....
