Can I be a maybe? It's largely dependent on whether the van passes its MoT. My wife is going to McBusted with a friend, so I get a pass out for the weekend.

So much to do on ours, we've only had it since last August. List includes
- Basic Service, timing, valves (never done any of this).
- Propex install
- Cab door seals

I'm ok with electrics, but the mechanicals are all new to me.

It will be nice to meet a few folk too. Anyone travelling up from Kent?

 

Early birds start pulling middayish Friday but its up to you.

 

The main action happens on Saturday with tying up the loose ends on Sunday. Not recommended to turn up Sat afternoon if you plan doing much.

 

Cool ta hmm may have to take day off think it'll take a while to get there

 

I've just thought of another job I'd like to do on my van.
I have two spotlights on the front and I'd like to wire them in so they come on with the main beam.
Would one of the electrical wizards tell me what I need to buy in the way of relays, fuses, switches and so on so that I can turn them on and off but when they're turned on they only come on with full beam.

Please bear in mind that the sum total of my electrical knowledge is that it tingles if you lick a 9v battery.

 

It's even more fun if you put a hair clip arcoss live and netrual pins of a household plig then plug in


Then when I grew up I put an axe though a live cable on a job a sparky thought was dead. The sparks were pretty.

@sANDYbAY , you've liked my post so I'm taking that as a yes I can help.
I bring my electric screwdriver tester, I've improved it by stopping it light up I found it distracting.

 

As you didn't say "Don't try this at home children" I'm now looking for a hair clip. Should I remove the clip from the child's head before putting it in the plug?

'course you can. You helping me do 'lecktricks could keep everybody else amused and give the local fire brigade a bit of training.

 

Are these two procedures small enough to do at the weekend? Worth me buying the bits in the hope someone can show me what to do?

Replace anti-roll bar bushes
Replace fuel filler neck

 

I managed to do the fuel filler neck on mine easily in less than a day without dropping the engine. To be honest is probably the worse job I've had to do on my van - was a complete fiddly nightmare trying to do it by feel with one arm in the paint tin hole and the other through a tiny gap at the top of the firewall - my arms were wrecked by the end of it. Doable though, but would be a LOT easier with the engine out

 

or we may supply a small child to use the arms of.

 

You let children touch your van??? I try and keep mine away from it

 

Hmmm. Annoying that the engine was out for its service in January and the mechanic recommended a new filler neck when I picked up the bus, not while the engine was on a hoist.

 

I'll have a word nearer the time. But I don't do sickys. I like my job.

Not sure asking for more time off while I'm still soaking up the sun in Spain is too tactfull
