  1. Evidence is suggesting I have solids as I have springs [IMG]

  2. Hopefully then the gaps just need adjusting

  3. There's a fair trickle of oil coming from the far right .... not good I assume !!!

  4. Those look like solid lifter push rods

  5. ...although I think it has slowed. The engine is still warm. Could it be that? It's not floods of oil.

  7. I think that's normal and nothing to worry about

  8. Cool. The trickle stopped after a couple of minutes too. Not adjusted anything yet. Will do that Thursday. Thanks for your help everyone.

  9. Adjusted number one valves. One was super slack, the lock nut was not tight. Thanks all!

  11. No. It was lovely and sunny. I was only wearing shorts.

Engine hadn't been started for 24 hours though

  13. As Laurie Pettit once pointed out: if a busy VW dealers in the 70s had had to leave every van and Beetle overnight before setting the tappets, they'd never have got any work done...

  14. I'm sure I've seen an old picture of them using fans to cool the engine down
I'd agree with not needing to be left overnight though
