  1. So does that mean reducing the engine oil capacity? Not a good idea....[/quote]

most people shorten the sumps ...but widen them...;)
widen them to keep the oil capacity ..

No where near an expert, but having read a bit about the importance of harmonics in 2 stroke engines I doubt any aftermarket exhaust that is made shorter/has many folds and had its cats removed is going to be optimal. Might be louder and possibly more free flowing but then neither of those attributes necessarily lead to more power.

I would imagine the best you can hope for is equal length from each bank of cylinders to where the exhaust meet.

Now, let's talk about inlet tract shall we!

  3. Do you know if there is any reason I should be worried about regarding why? Is it just the cost?

Mine was the earlier version of yours, can't argue with machined from single billet it doesn't get stronger than that in aluminium, mine wasn't!

    Just cost I'd think!

  6. Still not shipped yet...... Shippers insisting it must have title to ship, so that's now underway.....and I'm $400 lighter...... :(. I wonder what they'll throw at me next?

    excussess excussessssss :)

  8. its strange as you have got one shipped before without a title,
but i know from friends that have imported yank vehicles,
that they can rarely be moved form state to state with out a title,
which is effectively the registration/logbook detals, some states are hotter on it than others..

I'm more surprised you managed to export it without title last time to be honest!
Its a good thing, means we're less likely to get inundated by stolen yank vans.

  10. I googled this earlier... It would appear that a title is pretty similar to our log book, and just like over here, information on a car's history is available to purchase through a check system similar to HPi, which provides info on whether a vehicle is nicked, has finance outstanding etc. So, shipping a van without a title is really no biggie.... As long as the checks are done!

  11. I bought a bus without a full title and it was no issue bringing it in as both the shippers and the customs relied on the bill of sale.

Strange though that the bus looks like a 1976 yet all the paperwork which has been accepted and stamped by the customs authorities says 1972...

I will be following your home brew progress as I have a 1972 ;) westy sat in the front drive I don't know what to do with, I also have a hankering after messing with scooby power. Perhaps I will combine the two...
    :)

  12. Well, here's an update....

Just had an email from Mark at Kingstown saying it's due in next week - I thought it was still in the States!

Once it's arrived I'll start to post a few pics, but in not planning to do much for a few weeks and I really need to sell Winnie first....

Your just dragging your heels now:)

  14. sounds like good news...:)

have you stripped the scooby yet ..?

  15. True - it's due in later this week, so I'll post lots......but, and it's a big one, I've made a rather sad decision....

I'm going to pull the plug on this thread... :(

To cut a long story short, I have some important business commitments this year, and for various reasons, I have decided to sell the Tango bus, and probably the Scooby too, although I might keep that for the time being, just in case I change my mind.

My other bus Winnie is still for sale, and I really can't justify having so much money tied up in two vehicles.

This isn't an easy post to write, and I'm gutted I couldn't see this resto through, but if won't be my last effort and when I have more time (and spare cash!) I'll be at it again, maybe quite soon depending on how things go.

I'll post the details on the for sale section when the Tango bus arrives, and I might consider a "package deal" when it comes to selling.

Again, very sorry to disappoint all those looking forward to the completion of the Tango Scooby Bus...

    :(

  16. Oh no!!!!! Back to the Sky planner for me! Was really looking forward to this one!!!!
