Talk to me about Weber 34 ICTs

  1. OK, so.. you WILL need to fit a balance pipe between the manifolds to get the most our of these carbs and get them idling smoothly. I have a 12mm ID pipe running between my manifolds. As for jets, don't do anything until you see what jets are in the carbs. If they have been on a 1600 they may have been re jetted already and run perfectly fine.

Jetting is a bit of an art, and best done on a rolling road but I would see what they come with and ask from there. Do you have an SVDA distributor? One with a vacuum canister on its side? This will also help to get the best out of ICT's. They are great carbs. Easy to set up and simple. I get about 26mpg from my van on a long run camping trip. The biggest benefit from the carbs is that it holds its speed better on the hills than it ever did with the single pict 34-3. You wont regret it. My two best mods are the carbs and fitting a servo, but not much between the two.

    chrisselby and snotty like this.
  2. so the carbs have been set up and running on a 1955cc, so will need rejetting for a 1600

i have a 009 dizzy, which ice just bought 2 new ignition modules for so don't fancy changing that :(

  3. OK, so they will definitely need re jetting.

A good starting point is. 135 mains (or 140), 60 airs, F6 emulsion tubes, 55 idles. If you get them, send me a pm. I have lots of spare jets and can send you a set I think but you will have to buy some F6 emulsions if they are not already fitted. I will have to have a good look through what I have.
I would also replace the needle valves if they show any signs of wear. Have a good look at them.

For the 009, you will have to block off both the vac take offs. each carb has one.

  4. cheers, your a legend.

if i get them i'll send you a pm :)

  5. Oh yes. for got to add. DEFINATELY do not use the rubbish metal manifold base gaskets. get the fibre ones from Eurocarb or Fast Road Cars. While you are at it get a couple of sets of the paper top gaskets too. The idle jets will need new O rings but they are cheap.

Fast road cars are cheaper than Eurocarb for spares.

  7. thanks, will have a look and make a list up.

any idea where i can get the 2 blanks to blank off my heat risers on the exhaust :)

  8. Everywhere ;)

  9. Actually, no. John Lewis don't sell them.

  10. please dont same make them as i cant be arsed :p

  11. EMPI do them. Everybody sells them. Even EMPI can't cock two pieces of metal up...or can they?

  12. ok will take a looky look :)

  13. Assume you mean the roundy-oblong plates that block off the risers from the exhaust? If you've got an aftermarket 4-into-1, the risers may not even be drilled through...

The EMPI riser blocking plates are stamped out so the tops are more domed than the bottom faces. So you can at least put them on upside down.

As Keith Floyd would say - Just drink a couple of bottles of wine and wrap the corks in tin foil and hammer them in.

How late is late? Is a US 75 import a late/late?
