I've heard of people being able to open their tailgate from inside and just wondered how they do it. Does anybody know?
That rings a bell. I just think it might be cool to pop open the tailgate and let the sunshine in while I'm in bed with my cup of coffee on a nice summers morning.
^this. If you take the trim panel off, you should be able to see where to flip the latch from the inside. Not sure if it works with the barrel locked, tho'
Wouldn't it get lost under the mattress. The thing that reminded me of this was looking at the C and C site where they show a rear door latch mechanism with an internal release pin. It's for a different year than my van though.
someone did a diy bodge using the tailgate latch pull off something like a fiat panda or similar....can't remember where I read it but try googling.....
I drilled a small hole and used a shoelace. Did the job! I think birdy went upmarket and used a handle. It opens from inside with the barrel locked btw so you stay safely locked in. We fitted ours more as a quick means of escape but it sure helps on the morning!
Brilliant if it opens from inside even when locked and yes a quick escape route would be a good idea if something caught fire while we were in bed. I'd prefer something a bit more classy than a bit of string though.
A bit of string! Its a bootlace of the type worn by Sir Ranulph Fiennes on his jaunts to cold places I'll have you know. Good enough for him, good enough for me!
