But you’re not building a stock engine. If the stock silencer was designed at all it was meant for a 1700, VW stretched it to 2.0 and now your adding approximately 440cc. That’s more than a third larger than the original engine and the exhaust gas has to go somewhere somehow. And the heat has to go somewhere too, stop it escaping out the exhaust and it’ll stay in the cylinders.
Thats what i thought. Needed a new one and mine came up 2nd hand but not used nice and cheap. If id have bought one from the shop id have gone single tailpipe. Thinking i might remove the pipe ends on the tailpipes as they look naff and just slash cut the ends
