Ordered one of these from VW heritage

As it states original classic part, thought it would be brand new, but look what's turned up

I do think its genuine VW, but defiantly not new, going to send it back and just replace the oil relief valve washer instead, I suspect that would cure what looks like a small leak.

  2. That is rather cheeky...

Sent them an email to return the part - should have mentioned that the part is clearly used.

Be funny if once I send it back they refuse a refund do to it being 'used'

Here is my current one, which actually looks a lot better than what I'd been sent.

  5. Maybe they charge extra because it's "distressed". Or "careworn" Very fashionable.

  6. Best way to do it up, by the way, is with an impact driver (the type you clout with a hammer)

  7. Why didn't they make these things with a hex socket head? Not all of us have a four foot long German machine screwdriver

They didn't think you'd be taking it apart. LP has found a perfect replacement with a hex socket head he was saying the other day. I can't remember what he said it was from though. I'll ask him next time he's on the phone.

Needs to be done up pretty tight then.

I was hoping it would be as tight as what I could get it, it would crush the washer and if it did leak from there (certainly looked like that from the picture) once tight, that would be another leak fixed.

  10. I'm not sure if there is a torque setting listed for it

But if you've fully crushed the crush washer, then it should be done up tight enough!! I like the impact driver, as it does it up 1/8th of a turn at a time, so you're not going to over torque it!! :)
