Thanks - I’m not to concerned about the grill etc. As thinking of getting one of these

I’ve seen cheaper - maybe I’ll look at the two burner option.

So I think the bracket would come in handy, unless others have any ideas. I do want to be able to remove from the van.

I’ve also seen cupboards made with a standard camping grill that can then be removed.

  4. I did ponder the use of an ex London taxi seat support.
Have a look on eBay some the London cabs had a swing out seat on the passenger side.

  5. I've never had a sink in the bus, so can't comment on how useful they are.

How would it work drain wise if it also swings out?

Double hob is great & grill is used more than I'd imagined

  6. They are perfect for:-
Being in the way when you are getting in & out of the sliding door.
Smacking your knee or ankle on.
Cutting your thigh on whilst donning your favourite jeans.
    Plucking your wife’s woollen tights.
    Rattling about when travelling.
    Taking up valuable space.
Cooking with only one biggish pan.
Splashing hot oil on your nice paintwork whilst burning bacon in the tiniest frying pan known to man.
Not boiling a kettle if windy.
Giving you a hernia if you decide to remove it to cook in the awning.

Proper ballache......Got rid of ours & now use a 2 burner Xcelerate camping stove which has it’s own self contained extendable legs (bit like a mini bbq but gas).

Sink... something to think about. Useful for brushing teeth etc.

Once it swings out you could release to under the van. When in the van

Maybe I shouldn’t be looking at swing out - though I do like that idea that then had the option to remove. Wonder if you can get a removable blanking plug for the van floor?

I got the stove you mention, but I want less stuff to carry so to speak. We store that stove in the van so every time we travel and don’t need it, it gets removed.

I would like something that’s simple, allows cooking inside/outside.

  9. We also have a fitted sink..... never used it except to store all the bits of junk you accumulate..... bit like the third drawer down in your kitchen at home..... another waste of time!

We would use it. Maybe not often but it would be used. Brushing teeth etc.

  11. So you want something which is six times the size of the stove you now have that is semi-permanent?

No - a small stove like the one I linked. We don’t need much. A single burner is fine two would be lovely.

  13. You wouldn’t.... trust me! Not only do they take up storage space but you need to carry an inaccessible water container & hook up a pump. Plus cut a hole in the floor for drainage or have it poking out of the slider for you to step in frequently!

Well if we don’t use it and it’s removable it won’t matter.

Fact is it’s a pita taking kids to toilet block when they could simply do teeth in the van. It’s a bit like saying we don’t need a toilet...

If we wild camp, which we’d like to do more of, a sink/cooker either fixed/semi removable would be useful.

  15. That’s all part of the adventure..... instead of bumping into each other around a mini sink you’d be better off carrying a fold up spade. Also can be stored conveniently under the van when not in use...... Cooking inside the van produces masses of water vapour & you get enough of that just breathing overnight.

I'm struggling to workout how you brush your teeth with a fold up spade :D;)

The Devon cooker arrangement is quite good, as the plate warmer/wind shield arrangement means it doesnt spit on the paint on the bus when its swung out, and then you can remove it when its really hot, take it outside the awning and cook outside on a hot evening.
Or leave it at home if you need to take along a trolley loaded with lab gear for radio propagation measurements in the middle of a field.

  20. Grill is a 'must have' in my book , why would you not have one ??
It's what camping is all about...
    Cheese on toast anyone ??
