  1. Rear swing away spare wheel carrier wanted.
Anyone out there got one or know where to get one. Seems like these just don't exist anymore.

  2. Swing to the side or swing down?

you can't buy the swing aside ones - unless you know someone at danbury i guess - and even then i think they quoted stupid money..... i doubt you'll find an old landmark one (factory fit swing aside) the only other option is make or convert one (possibly use landrover) or get a swing down one like used on devon (or laterly made by bluebird) i just got hold of a brand new unused bluebird swing down one but i'm still toying with it if i'm honest.

  5. I also have a Devon drop down which I was going to fit but as I now have chrome bumpers I am reluctant to drill for it so also in a quandary, so looks like Matilda will get her nose back and wheel holder to go, I think !!!

    No room anywhere. :(

But nobody actually needs a spare (legally) so why not leave it in the garage. :)

Though the only time I've ever had a puncture in 30 years of driving it was in the van in the middle of nowhere, without a spare, jack or wheel nut spanner.

  12. I cannot understand why it seems a good weight saving idea on new cars to not come with with a spare, I know its all emissions savings and all but it is a step too far.

When I was a lad you'd see often see people changing their wheel at the side of the road, now you rarely do despite there being a lot more vehicles.
    Are tyres better?
Or is is deemed too dangerous now to change your tyre on the roadside?
A bit of both? I wouldn't fancy doing an offside one on many roads.

  14. 3 cans of tyre foam and an RAC card for me
it is odd that we have all that room yet nowhere for a spare wheel

  15. I'm sure I remember reading in some breakdown service "bumpf" that you must carry a spare or they can't/won't help in the event of a puncture??

But with internet on your phone, for the very rare occassion it might happen a man will come out and fit a new tyre for you. Just sayin, having had a flatty in the middle of nowhere but by chance 1/2 mile from a farmer I know who'd just that day set up a tyre machine...I realise I got lucky and now have a spare on the front. But I don't have a jack or wheel brace...

  17. Probably just a way to get extra cash out of you I suppose ie, you the customer must take basic precautions or there will be an extra charge etc...!

  18. Here you go, for anybody's interest!

Don't know how why or if they'd enforce it.
That's for the breakdown with Lancaster insurance

  19. I suppose if you get a puncture and they turn up they cant fit what you have not got. I guess they would still fix your wipers if they had broke.

You might get a complete jobsworth lol Whats wrong mate. "wipers have packed up" oh ok "can I see your spare " :D:D

  20. Item 11 will be a tricky one too. They obviously need to catch up with the rest of the country. Just shows they haven't reviewed their documentation for a while. Spare wheel is a option on many new cars. I looked at a factory duel fuel car last week and the gas tank was where the spare wheel would be. There was nowhere at all to put a spare.
