As the title suggests Im currently contemplating fitting stock 14" steel wheels (when I eventually find some near Bolton lol) to my bay instead of the 16" Porsche alloys currently in place. Having read various posts across the forum I am now a little confused. My 73 Devon has a 2110cc engine fitted courtesy of VW Paradise and will soon be complimented by a CSP python exhaust. I have been reading posts suggesting bigger wheels if the engine is not standard. Will this be a problem if I go back to stock. If not do I stick with the standard tyre size aswell ?
just means your top speed will still be the same as a stock camper but you will fly up the hills normally when you give an engine a bit more power you can up the gearing a little to give it a bit more top speed or drop the revs so it will cruse nicely if you have silly rubber band tyres fitted to your 16's then stock wheels and tyres might help anyway
Given the choice, I'd go for 15's with tyres to replicate the standard aspect ratio of 14's with stock tyres.....you're unlikely to wind up the trans unless you have some serious power, and tbh, it's acceleration and torque that you really need in a bus
Cheers guys you've given me something to think about. The engine has been set up to be torquey rather than top speed.
Appologies Holmsen I am a complete noob so havnt a clue. Not sure if this pic helps http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/carb-fuel-line-connector-too-big.35626/#post-619693 As it happens I would like to know
I have an engine spec sheet I'll try and post it you may be able to put it in simpler terms for me lol
@holmsen attached is engine spec sheet.just reading the carb post,I'm guessing I fall in the icing of carb bracket? I too have a flatspot was hoping I could get rid of this easily.not sure I've experienced the icing though
