  2. Its hard to comment properly because none of us know the facts, he may have been able to see clearly for miles & nothing was around when he went through the red light. You can't excuse his actions clearly they were wrong, we have all done things wrong.
The trouble is though when you get caught you always feel hard done by.
My works van has a Bluetooth hands free kit, while it was in for repair I had a hire van, I foolishly used my mobile phone while driving & was caught red handed by an unmarked police car. I didn't argue, there was no point I was caught & that was that, I had 3 points & a £60 fine. The annoying part though was the fact that 99% of the time I use a hands-free, the one time I didn't I got caught.
How many people do you see everyday using a mobile phone?
Everybody who has a car has a mobile phone bar a few exceptions, why isn't there an act of Parliament making car manufactures put a hands-free kit in the cars? They did it for seat belts!

The best thing to do is not to break the rules
The second best thing to do is don't get caught breaking the rules.

We all have strong opinions about stuff like this. Lets face it though most peoples opinions are selfish. If one of your loved ones (God forbid) was injured by a speeding motorist you would be 100% against speeding motorists.
If on the other hand you are a speeding motorist & you've just had a £60 fine & 3 points you probably would love to own a Road angel or similar, or find a way to get out of your predicament.
    :)
