I filled up with petrol for the first time yesterday and I must have squeezed the lever too hard because all the petrol spilled out and ran down the side of the van. The garage had no paper towels so I had to wait until I got home to wipe it off, and its left a mark all the way down the side of the van. Is there anyway I can get this off or have I damaged my bus already??! I'm going to Halfords tomorrow to get some wax / polish / cleaner to give it a good wash.
i'd imagine it's been painted if you have removed paint, petrol acts like thinners and eats away poor paint...... you may be able to get some cutting compound and get some shine back....
Petrol shouldent damage a good paint finish What sort of mark has it left and can you take a picture?
Thanks all. Will take a picture tomorrow . The area it has spilt is an area of the van that has been repainted in the past.
Sounds like its been painted in single pack air dry paint like acrylic maybe Ill await the pics but if its done more than blemich the paint slightly your looking at repainting at least the effected area
The colour of your bay is great, it depends on the angle of the laptop screen as to whether its yellow or green Well done with the polish by the way
Thanks Major, yeah I thought it was yellow, but when it arrived it was definitely green! I love the colour too.
