  1. got a speeding ticket through the door today 41 in a 30
i am not disputing the speeding or anything else I’ve been a naughty boy and all that >:D
but they’ve said on the ticket i may qualify for that speed awareness course
but i d like to avoid that at all cost and would rather take the points /fine or whatever its likely to be but would draw the line at sharing a cell with gary glitter but does anyone know what the fine/ points /cell sharing is likely to be

  2. Standard penalty for speeding is £60 and 3 points.

However if you're excessively over, they just refer you to the Magistrates Court - and they can impose higher fines and more points. Can't remember how far over you have to be for that though.

bloody hell Steve, what was you doing in the Kia  Di let you borrow it for half hour n look what happens!! It'd never happen in Diego or Barry the beetle!!

  4. thought it was something like that
its the Speed limit + 10% + 9mph to get on the coarse so it should be the same for 3 points and a fine
the coarse is £90 so by the time i ve lost a days wage also it seems a no brainer i know it will make my insurance go up but they ed put it up anyway

  6. Your insurance will go up and dont forget, will stay up while those points are on. We calculated that 3 points meant more than £400 over the four years. Havent experienced the course personally but those that have said it was the worth the effort.

  7. how did you get to £400 did you [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow]or in that insurance companies put there prices up regardless for instance my bug insurance went up £60 over one year i made no claims same milage and same address and thats after i stuck my full no claims on the car to try and bring it down
as for the corse sticking pins in my eyes has more appeal :p

  8. I would personally go for the course as I have been caught several times was up to 9 points at one point and it bumps your insurance up alot just having 3! and don't forget they are on your licence for 5 years!

  10. Must admit one person said it was the worst experince he'd had, great unwashed and all that. Take the points like a man!!

  11. One of my service guys got a NIP for 74 in a 60 from Norfolk police. Surprisingly, he was offered a speed awareness course reasonably local (he lives in Donny) and on a Saturday morning, so he doesn't have to take time off work.

  12. You only get the choice to do the coarse on the first time you are caught if within the 10% I think? I got 6 points instead of having my licence taken off me! :)

  14. I dont make assumptions, that was merely a reported comment!

  16. i did the safety course, 5 yrs ago,
    it was at nite,
was a larf to listen to all the people makin excuses for their speeding,

one twot told us it was because he was driving his wifes car which was faster than his, :-
another that he had a sneezing fit as he passed a camera....nobbies

i then went on to get nicked again [northants was notorius for it] so i would have had 6 points ... :(

6 points wont look good when you come to reinsure....

on the 1st occasion i was doin 32mph
    and on the second 43 in a 40 ...

:censored:.... one a money collecting spree, one camera collected 1.5 million in a year

I read at the weekend that someone had been asked by their insurers if they'd ever done a speed awareness course. Kind of defeats the object :(

  20. I did the course it was all just normal peeps mostly fellow commuters on it. Wasnt too bad.

One girl was arguing what are you supposed to do to overtake if the person in front is doing the limit. Then started arguing and disagreeing with the bloke when he told her not to overtake them! We all felt for god sake just shut it so we can all go home! ::)
