I,ve just got back from a Speed awareness course to stop me getting 3 points, I went into this very pessimistic and moaning like everyone else who was there, I've come out not really learning much but maybe a little bit more aware of the consequences of speeding, These courses are only for the people who get caught minor speeding not the maniacs we see flying about causing mayhem and danger, they just get points or bans, I now think they should also have to take these courses as well as getting points, all in all i've changed my mind and think its a good idea, also i've learned that the people who run these courses have got really cushty steady away jobs ???

  2. did one before christmas. padded out to say the least but good nontheless. agree with you. driver retraining should be compulsory for all speeding miscrients!

  3. did you get asked your reason for speeding? i said it was because i was *******ed. the had a debate on why cameras dont actually catch serioius drivig offenders!

yeah my mate at work did one woody and said more women do them - but the instructor said more men get banned for speeding so that's probably why...

  10. Been there, bought the T-shirt. :(

However we were asked how and why we were speeding... Everyone in the room laughed when I said I was in my 1600 Vw T2 towing a caravan :))
Even the police running the course said I was very unfortunate..:)

At least you get the option, we don't :(
Lose 12 points in 3 years & lose your license, unless you have a very good brief.

i did one, yeah it dragged on, but worth it for not getting the three points.........................cos i got them a few months after doing the course anyway :(

not going to be worth it though if insurance companies start using it to increase your policy!

  19. I went on one a couple of months ago at the time I thought it was ok and did consider my driving now I've forgotten everything they taught us and am back to my usual driving style.

The funny thing was we had a "discussion" about the course and it's aims. The instructors stated the the police envisaged that each person that attended would realise the error of their ways and never speed again. I said thats poppy c*ck as the police need/want us to speed which they didnt like and thought was nonsense. I pointed out that without the revenue from these courses and from points/fines police forces would be unable to function. Needless to say the instructors were none too happy and went into teacher mode saying we can carry on this if you wish but you'll all have to stay longer!! I was chuffed that everyone in the class seemed to agree with me - the instructors must get some serious stick ::)

Worst thing was before I went Shraon told me to keep my head down and be quiet but i couldn't resist ;D

  20. I'm on one at 9 am tomorrow morning. :)
