Speaker Locations....

  1. I fitted my front speakers under the dash so no one could see them. Keeps everything stock.
Now I accept that this is not the best fitting for optimum sound, but they have been fitted there for over a year now and the sound is fine. Backed up by a set of 6 X 9's in the back.

  2. Cool, like that a lot....what speakers are they, size and make etc. O0

  3. They are Alpine speakers.

I got these as I liked the sound they produced. Not tinny. All I did was cay some thin sheet steel to hold them in and then screwed them above the air vent pipework.

  4. Ours are in the kick panels, and in the overhead cupboard at the back.

    Looks minimal and sounds great.

  5.
  6. I didn't want to cut holes in cards and wanted a clean look.

In the end I found these pods that take 10cm speakers and mounted them on the kick panels. Also added a small slimline subwoofer behind the drivers seat to pick up the Bass. Sounds OK, but on the motorway you lose all the midrange due to road noise, but sounds great at slow speeds and when stuck in traffic! :)

    Here's one:

Here's the other one next to the PO's speakers in the doors:

All driven by a bog standard "Halfords" special head unit. Cheapest I could find with iPOd link:

  7. i have some pods i made up years ago for my mini, in the shed that are like that dazzaxjr, might dig them out

  8. Maybe mounted on the backside of the kick panels with routed slits cut to let the sound through I was thinking of this for mine .

  9. ^^^ was thinking exactly the same thing! I am going to have a go with the current kick board I've got and see how easy it will be to fit the speaker and then the kickboard to the van without dislodging the speaker.

The problem I think I'm going to encounter is that the kickboard has to be bend a bit to fit, (and stays curved once in situ), so not sure how well the speaker will stay fixed...

  10. You could make a small spacer between the speaker n the kickboard that is curved on the kick board side and flat on the speaker side so it would sit flush ???
