Need a little advise. I want to move the spare wheel from the interior to the outside either front or rear. I have a front mounting purchased form Just Kampers, I have also seen pictures or a rear fold down mounting which at the moment I do like the look of. I know some members do not like the front mount due to damage or potential damage to the front panel. The rear fold down mount looks good, can anyone provide details of a supplier of this item so that I may compare. Why move the wheel? like everyone I need more space inside. All help gratefully accepted
Dave(LordCongi) has his wheel rear mounted and imho it looks fine , i have mine on the front but if i ever get the chance it's getting removed back inside
Here you go mate 2nd product down http://www.bluebird-type2.co.uk/Split%20bay%20exteriorparts.htm miles better on the back
devon made the rear wheel mounting think there quite rare, dont mount on front panel it will be ruined :'( have you thought about a roof rack?
Ive got one like Lord Congi on my '79 Devon Sundowner fine but drops down to ground rather than half way which is a pain for getting into back of van and engine bay Spongebob has similar but fixes to the actual bus with this http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=2471.0 http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=1985.msg25215#msg25215 My bus must have had this originally as I have the fixings. Suspect changed at some point as I now have a tow bar.
thanks for that Lord Congi, I see yours have a small I call them anti cluse fittings on yours the bluebird rely on spring loaded shoot bolts, I prefer yours may try to get a local made one to a similar design, i really do like the rear mount look and the repositioned number plate and light is not a problem
cheers, just wodnering how different it is to the bluebird setup. also wondering if i could fit that bluebird one onto the front.....
Ok mine has 2 catches either side just above the engine bay lid that the wheel bracket attaches 2. you can just see it on this picture if you zoom
