Try this. There is a better diagram on this forum (I'll try to find it and point you in the right direction, but this diagram has some handy notes. It doesn't look like you need the hot idle valve (No 49) unless you have auto transmission I think???)
I am looking to get my twin Solex carbs refurbed. They seem to run well but not 100%. It seems the going rate is over £200 per carb, so not cheap. I'm wondering what sort of improvements people have seem after a return @Betty the Bay and @nooster? Is it worth the cash or might I see similar improvement paying a tune up guy £90 to adjust and balance the carbs and do a diagnostic check?
Mine cost £ 250 including postage. They seem to work fine, but I was replacing a progressive twin choke webber which didn't like an auto gearbox linkage. They were nice and shiny and Autohaus Dolby, who fitted them for me seemed pleased with quality of refurb.
I'm probably missing something here but as I've just refurbed one of my carbs for £15 plus some cleaning stuff (cellulose thinners, wd40, wire wool etc), you're paying over £200 for say 3 hours of semi-skilled labour. That's circa £70 an hour. I'm in the wrong job!
Agreed, i spent a bit more to replace the bushes as well and i have an ultrasonic cleaner, but that seems a lot of money
If I'm not mistaken, @nooster's cost £190 for a returned carb; not £190 to refurb his. I could have mis-understood though!
It was £200 inc postage without a knackered one to give as a exchange - or whatever the word is. It says on riverhaus' website that there would be an additional cost without the exchange - but Kevan waved the £35 fee he normally charges. No piccys of mine @paradox but it was exactly the same as on this page - http://www.riverhaus.co.uk/vehicle.htm
Tha thanks for that I just downloaded the Bentley Manuel which I think one of those pics is from Numbers 15,16,17,18 and 52 on that exploded diagram say auto trans only Any idea what and how important those parts are? As I have an auto and bought the carbs not realizing there would be any difference between manual and auto Cheers
