Hi Zedders, I'm not to worried about the rear off side as I will be getting the entire full panel that goes all the way up to the bottom of the windows. In terms of could I have got a better one to start with, the honest answer is yeah I probably could, however there are reasons for me to choose this one, which I will explain if I ever get this finished.
So today I started the dreaded floor job so that I cant get to the crusty bits. Also, I took a couple of pictures of the sliding door mechanism that we cleaned, greased, oiled and replaced. It now slides like a new bus.
Here is today's work, I did find that when I took half of the floor up, the chassis, outriggers, jacking points and top hat section were in very very good condition, I was very pleasantly surprised to say it's a uk bus. I would say about 95% of underneath the floor on this half is good to just clean up and rust treat and protect. I will be dealing with the other side of the floor tomorrow. After that half is up my plan is to, cut out the bad, weld in the new, rust treat, protective paint then put in the new floor. Does anyone have any recommendations for rust treatment and protective paint ? I'm going to zinc spray the areas where I am welding.
A bit late now, I wondered why you were cleaning the floor welds. Why are you removing a perfectly good floor?
Hi Zedders the floor is not that perfect,it has be welded in numerous areas also some rust bloating between the floor and top hat caused the floor in some areas to raise and crack. When I've finished it should hopefully be perfect.
Getting on with it champ. Good work.. Similar level of rust I'm dealing with on mine. I have a feeling I'm going to have to do my floor also but hoping that I don't.. I won't know until its too late probs haha Sent from my YAL-L41 using Tapatalk
So, this is some of the work I've been getting on with over the last few days. I picked this beauty up for a steal, it's a running CJ 2ltr type 4 motor, all stock just needs a little attention to make it completely stock.
