  2. I fix my own. But here in Bavaria. You would actually have to look for days for a mechanic who would try to cheat you. The moral integrity and attention to detail of the southern Germans is incomparable. Of Course the prices here reflect it.. I dont trust the British too much . And i never do business with the dutch ,

Don't get me started, you'll regret it. I have a list so long you'll get tired of my tirade. I could rant on for hours.
Ps that's just insulting. I wish my trading standards officer friend was still around.

  4. I keep hearing how the number of vans on the road is in decline. A load of arse i says! Late 80s early 90s noone was interested in them really, parts were hard to come by and they were either minters or rot boxes. Next to no rust free imports or parts and it was almost cheaper to buy a new one than fix one that needed some welding. No internet to find stuff and events were posters in garages or parts places. GSF and Euro were the places to get yer bits from and sold good stuff if you could wait weeks for it

Many mechanics wrre old school and hated air cooled motors but they could fix them. The good restorers then are probably still going!

Today, many rust free imports, buses percieved as investments and mechanics that dont know what points look like!

  5. The Dutch probably think you are a "bicycle theif" and employ their usual distain for anything teutonic!

  7. I only stole cars and high end jewelry back in the day .stealing Bicycles Are high risk ,bad return , actually my experience with the Dutch (and not being any blood realation of the Teutonic) ,is that even if they steal one penny from you they walk away with this proud feeling that they conquered the world. ......Strange game. Grown men . Childish mentality.
