The snow from a couple weeks ago just started melting on Friday - enough for the top 6-8 feet down from the peak of the roof on the house to be clear, anyway, when this happened: A guy from up the street using his snow blower on the drive of the elderly neighbor across the street from us - the LDS church members do look after one another That's the plastic box on the patio holding our patio chairs etc: The box is 28.5" tall, so we had around 15" over Thursday night to Saturday night/Sunday morning. Gin drove home in the snow on Thursday - normally takes about 12 minutes, took well over an hour! Our road, on a hill naturally, wasn't ploughed so when she came down it and turned into the drive, she slid onto the front lawn ) I had to go out and push her back, then push from behind so that she could get some traction on the 6" of snow we'd had by then. The road was subsequently ploughed and salted a couple times, but the plough left a 2 foot or more mound at the end of everyone's driveway, so Gin had a snow day working from home ) Took me two attempts to clear the drive using just the snow shovel (really must get the snow blower working at some point!) I cleared roughly 1700lb (770kg) of the powdery snow we get here - that's a mid-60s Beetle in weight! My shoulders ache today Low temp last night was -19c, low tonight is supposed to be around -21c - high for today will be the giddy realms of -11c. I'm glad we got the furnace and ducting working better!
1963 it was quite bad remember it well http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cl4pJwcE7JI#t=51s
