Do you need the whole thing?
On eBay they tend to go for best part of £200

Looks like i will have to be careful when closing it ! don't want damage the fresh paint :)

And i will keep my eye out for a left hand door one !

  6. This is exactly that happen to mine, until one day it went and the sliding door slammed into the c pillar, taking a nice chuck out the fresh paintwork.

I had one forsale recently, it went on eBay for £180 buy it now

They are hard to find, I was searching everywhere, found one complete which I bought then someone came back to me with just the one piece I needed so I used one and refurbed the other and sold on.

Just for reference the prototype bay one will its the same, but you will need a complete mech including the u bracket and bit that attaches to the door as those are different sizes.
As long as it's complet you can use an early one..

  13. Same thing had happened to mine sometime in the past. I used a piece of alloy, drilled & tapped some holes and bolted it on with countersunk bolts. It works a treat.

  14. Hopefully these pics will help show what I mean

Photos are great so far. Although im missing both hooks pin and spring

  19. You can buy all of those from vw heritage, that's what I did. Prob cost about £40 instead of £200 for a second hand mech
