Yeah, I know, but the whole point of them is that they can be serviced and parts replaced. It's not like my mum is particularly hard on them - a bit of light pruning in the garden! But it's nice I can get her a decent pair and look after them.
I doubt Felco would replace mine when they wear out, I'm on my 3rd pair in 18 years and I think the definition of 'lifetime' probably doesn't mean 7 hours a day, 5 days a week through every summer.
They're good secateurs though, and well worth the money. The Felco 2 are certainly more than good enough for enthusiastic amateur use!
(My Felco 9's come apart into even more pieces )

Mine are 10 years old, they cost me £45.00. They are used commercially.
Still going strong, but I did have to replace the spring as it fell out and went down a drain.

    That's great.
Mine just suffer ( as do everyone else's on the nursery) from constant daily use, and the steel spindle which holds the two parts together eventually wears away the surrounding aluminium, meaning there is fractional play between the two moving parts. The screws then tend to unscrew themselves gradually over the course of the day, which gets really annoying and means they snag, so eventually you give up and buy a new pair. I think the price has actually come down over the last 18 years - which makes my boss happy! Mine usually last about 8 or nine years, which I think is a fine recommendation for the brand considering the life they have.

Slightly negates the point of having the type of weapons that you can take apart to clean, service, replace the blades on etc, though don’t you think?
As I say, nine years out of a piece of work equipment that is in constant daily use seems pretty good value to me. Even at the £45 that you paid for yours, that’s only a fiver a year. Luckily I get a trade discount too which makes it cheaper. They are good though, aren’t they, as I’m sure you know being a gardener.

Why did they mount the body back to front?...….

  12. Dumper bed is at the front so not sure it is. Its bigger brother that was there a few days back was the other way round.
    Unless you mean the bay?

May I recommend a Fairy laundry liquid bottle - the neck is of a much more suitable size for a less ‘hit or miss’ fill on a dark night.

    Ah, I stand corrected!

  17. Looks oddly familiar, whereabouts are you, roughly speaking; a county would be good enough to know if I am imagining things.
