Ours is named Woody due to the wooden roof that pluged the pop top hole when I bought him. The wooden roof has since been replaced but further wood was food as packing behig panels or rather filler. Woody stuck and seems to suit
Ours was named Winifred ( shortened to Winnie) by my daughter , as the reg started with YNF and god knows how she got Winifred from it but it stuck. Quite like to be fair.
You rumbled me. You may elevate your status to detective inspector rickyroo. Please paint an orange stripe down the side of your van and add a blue light.
We gave ours the working name Bouncy Bus while deciding what to call it and the name stuck. With coilovers it has become even more true. We were searching for something to do with the Lost episode "Tricia Tanaka is Dead" which is where it all started for us. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KKGk0cZf5Q
Joseph.. Because he had 11 coats of paint.. Later he became mickey.. When I stripped them all off..( Metal mickey )
Ours is called the bugcatcher due to the number of bugs it collects on even the shortest of journeys.
Ours is called Mandy Bertha We bought her from a garage with no name and were waiting inspiration. My nephew said why not call it mandarin cos of the colour, so we shortened that to Mandy. I then spoke to the real previous owner who'd owned her 30 yrs. his late wife had called her big Bertha, hence the Bertha addition in deference to previous owner,.
Ours is called Lola, as her reg stats with OLA and has an L at the end.....and as she's a crossover I think the Kinks song Lola suits her....must get some cherry cola
my husband has Popeye tattooed on the inside of his right arm, his nickname as a young un was Popeye .........guess why ............my mother suggested call the bus Popeye, now I hated Popeye , so mother, boys and Mick said Olive ( Oil being the pun)................no mother the bus is male .....................Olive was shortened then to Ollie .................deep sigh............ with his number plate GAE no one would accept Master Gaelord Frankenfurter the 1st which was my chosen name. Mother and Mick won .........along with the boys.............they ganged up on me . Ollie now has a trailer called Gomez and a wagon called Ollie Trolley ...............Ollie had no name before..............why do we name them ............like each thing in life bus's mean to different things to different people. Some do it for fun, I do it out of affection, to some bus's are just bus's -accepted, to me Ollie is like a pet, I have never named any of our other cars ( accept my first Bay Jay) , maybe because of the time , the effort , the saving , selling and love which went into buying and trying to restore it ...........who knows.........each to their own
Her indoors had an old spi mini cooper that was called myrtle coz it was green like a turtle. When we bought our bus (also green)we asked the p/o if she had a name he said her name had always been myrtle Fate maybe ?
Our is called Bumble,I think because of the colour ! My wife named him as he was a daisy before we got him !
Ours is called 'TC', due to the fact that I usually try and make a name from the reg but there's not much you can do with 'TCB'! Unlike my old Fiestas, 'Beeper' (BPR) and 'Anc' (ANC <--- that was easy), Wifey called the Fiat Lil' Jim 'cos he's small and has 2 of my initials and the second letter of my surname, JBU. The Cortina is simply 'Big Red' or just 'Red' for short, I didn't think that 'Hard' (HRD) was a particularly fetching name.
