We didn't actually name ours he was already named by Volkswagen. For the first 6 months of 1974 Volkswagen exported a limited edition campervan with a Sopru pop top, different orientation for the windscreen wipers and indicator stalk on the other side. This was done mainly to gain import permission from the Australian government who were being quite isolationist with regard to vehicle imports. After carrying out the modifications on all vehicles destined for export to Australia Volkswagen decided to use the changes as a unique selling point. They called all the vans imported during that period "Skippy" in a homage to the famous Australian kangaroo. Edit: some of the above may be a lie.
Peaches because my daughter is colour blind and thought it was a peach coloured buss instead of beige
Mine has no name and never will...its a vehicle, for gods sake...its made of metal and rubber...I really cant understand why people name their vehicles!....Please,someone tell me why?
What's everyone's opinion on renaming? We bought our van and she was already called Daisy. Not my choice I would say, but it feels wrong to change it!
Mines simply called The Rocket or rocket, my kids named it after something in a kiddy program, young Einstein I think. I tend to call it my bus or van
The PO called it the Sick Bay because it's an ex-ambulance. He stuck the name on the rear window. My wife didn't like it and I was told to get it off. Couldn't shift it so the name has stuck.
Mine is called bob. Bob short for Kate. The actual story is that my bus was converted from a WW2 submarine owned personally by Himler and was used to entertain agents from enemy forces before they were fed to the fishes. Once it finished service it was left "bobbing" aimlessly in the English Channel hence the name. When it finally beached in the Bristol Channel it was salvaged and used as mobile library until in 1976 when it was bought to Birmingham and sprayed orange. I bought last year and dicided to keep the name Bob due to the rising water levels in the passenger footwell. This was true at the time if publishing but may contain minor un-truths since.
