Seeking inspiration for cheap DIY bay camper interiors

Discussion in 'Show Us Your Ride' started by Bugster, Feb 9, 2014.

  1. Hey

I am seeking inspiration for cheap diy camper interiors. All i need is a bench or two that can transform into a king size bed for the occasional sleepover.

A full width rock'n roll bed would do the trick for me, but they are too expensive over here in Norway. At least right now as I am rebuilding my new home and all.

So please post up your interiors. "Cheap" is the keyword.

    Thanks. :)

Is the bucket for cooking or the empty bottles or for where the empty bottle contents has to go

  4. Buy the hinges from JK or similar then make your own bed

  7. Ok, hinges is an option. Not too bad price on those.

    Anyone else? :)

  8. Do you have Ikea in Norway?....some of their units can be easily cut down to size

take the legs off, stick a work top on that you can remove and use as a table...put a fold up flap on the side, to extend the work top

portable coolbox, portable stove, water container, folding sink, put your clothes in hanging wardrobes

doubles up as a camping kitchen.....think of two uses for everything.....half price set-up

  9. Cheapest bed I ever saw was a pine futon in the back of a T25. Slid back into place to make a seat, and with a couple of supporting legs added it would pull out into a bed. Might be cheaper than a rock n roll bed?

  10. Buy some crap units then cover them

Got a cooker and sink here that i dont seem to be able to give away, you would have to collect tho :)

  11. How much is a rock and roll bed in Norway?

  12. Thats a question I never thought Id ask. Sounds like something from a spy movie. The answer probably has something to do with phoney dog pooh!

No, it's a homebrew. Back seat folds down, parcel shelf folds out, bondage straps are affixed to the side et voila, you have an über sized bed. Chuck an inflatable bed or water mattress on top and you have an instant bondage den cum shag pad
    :D

This particular model actually smelled like that's exactly what it was used for and has since been burned

  16. You can build a good quality one for one for around £160 or even cheaper - on top of that you would need bed foams and covers but you could easily cut corners, shop around for bits and I reckon if your frugal you could do it for around £250.

I reckon you could do a 3/4 bed for around 50 quid less!

  17. We had a guy here making replica r&r bed hinges for £20, they were made from thicker steel and sturdier than the originals, but he doesn't make them anymore. Some got away with using hinges from a regular bed, and if you are skilful, you could probably fabricate them yourself, it's just rods that lever against each other.

The most expensive part of my interior was wood. I went around scrap yards looking for discarded cupboards i can use for material.

Btw, I thought nothing was expensive for you Norwegians.
