Just heard this on the radio. I wondered why Bobby Prior was crying reading the travel until Sarah Cox explained.

RIP Steve Wright in the afternoon :(

Mr Angry has left the building. Him and Phil Cornwall have been constants for much of my life.

    RIP Wrighty.

Sad to hear, I loved his show in the late 80s/early 90s.
Definitely a legend of BBC radio.

What a shame. I wasn’t a fan but liked his Sunday show on radio 2.

    RIP Steve!

  9. Never really liked him, but RIP anyway. 69's a bit young to go.

Wasn't his biggest fan, but 69 is way too young to shuffle off.

  13. Shame really he was a good DJ even if you did not get the humor. It's no age at all

I am a big radio fan, steves death and the outpouring of respect for him reminds me of the very unexpected death of Terry Wogan , both great at their craft and missed by many millions . I just hope my favourite Tony Blackburn takes it easy , he has had one scare with sepsis last year ,only now is he cutting back on his very heavy workload ,now into his 81st year .
Mixcloud is a great resource for old radio shows , give it a look if your into old radio shows of all genres

  18. Really sad news about Wrighty. He was the afternoon soundtrack on the bus home from school and then when I started work in 1982. Easy to knock the afternoon show now as it was of it's time but millions of us grew up listening to him:(

  20. He wasn't on my favourite list but I enjoyed his afternoon shows in the early days . Sid the manager was a particular favourite but things got a bit 'samey' eventually becoming a one trick pony but with different characters ...

    RIP - too young....
