As I write I see more details coming through.
Lets just ask lots of questions, see some pics and then have a stab?
£2k is far too low Carl, but as you say £10k is a bit wild! Unless you're Tony of course.

For anyone to give you a sensible tight price they will need to literally run their hands over your bus.

  5. I got mine done for £1400 quid. Two tone original colours, roof, interior, engine, bumpers etc, all filler work (i stripped it down). There are deals to be had out there if u ask around.

  6. Where in the northwest? The bloke who used to repair all the dings/scrapes on my past & present daily drivers in Preston quoted me £1000! too good to be true I hear you shout!!! Correct! 18 months later he hadn't touched it & I found him crying in a corner one day saying he couldn't do it & had let me down. Seems he was having some sort of mini breakdown. Since then the van has gone in for a resto & the bloke who does the paint quotes £3500, he is a young 74 & chooses what he paints very selectively so wont do them all (don't think he will do ours even) but the vans are stripped with new panels, welding etc where necessary so not much graft for him to do. Check out Accrington Beetles & Campers' website for examples, although Virgin media may block the site for some reason? You could also ask @Mark Ritson who does their paint at Morcambe & Wize, I've seen their work & it's [swear filter] impressive! They are based between Morecambe & Lancaster. Hope this helps

  7. Im in Warrington so their not to far from me im just waiting on the new cab doors to arrive and a few other jobs to finish off then im ready for qoutes.
To be honest im expecting the paint costs to be 3-4k and thats with little to no prep required im going for cherry apple red and white, cheers

  8. you will be needing a new set of interior panels then?? It just so happens I could supply them for you! Let me know re paint nearer the time there was a place in Preston quoted me 3.5k but for a flat straight tidy job or 1.5k if not so much filler prep work for a tidy job, think they were called sjm motors bloke used to part own bank&derbyshire body shops

  10. Its JSM not SJM guys name is Stuart situated on chain caul way Preston docks, when I was in they were doing a Ferrari & a Bentley both in some fancy paint (2 stage pearl??) There was a bay on a trailer back to the shell, that was costing 6k, but he said it would be flat & straight when done. He did say they were moving into the prestige car side of it & I had to beg for him even to look at mine. He went out of his way however even visiting the van which was already at previous (breakdown Pete) sprayers unit. Stuart gave me 3 prices 1.5k tidy, 3.5k flat & tidy, 6k flat straight & tidy so there is your range. I saw a 'tidy' job at his shop & I would've certainly taken that.
    Cheers

  11. Thanks for that I will give them a call. Im hoping to get a spare hour or so in the next few days to start my resto thread and upload some pics which will show the new panels etc which im hoping have saved me a few quid on prep but time will tell

  12. £200!!!??!!! That much! Blimey I resprayed mine with aerosol cans for £25 on a windy day in 1988! I didn't really!
Just check whomever you chose, can do it when they say and dont give them all the money up front, mate of mine is still waiting for his T25 to be resprayed 3 months and gave him a fair bit of cash already!

  13. Im running a tight ship as I want the van back on the road for August but will choose the bodyshop with care and keep a close eye on it.
The bodyshop will be getting intrim payments only as from what ive seen alot of people get burnt at this stage.
£200 sound's like a bargain to me though

£5-600 for materials alone, (including reasonable quality paint, more for better stuff).
I painted a van with aerosols once and it cost more than £200 just for the cans, it's not the best aproach...Some materials money up front is not unusual, when I contract out I usually fork out £500-1000 in advance (my own money) but I know the guy pretty well and he's through a wall from my unit so easy to keep an eye on. However paint is a next day thing and he gets nothing until I see he's well into the prep.
