Redesigning layout

  1. I doodled this one night whilst coming up with different layouts for my van
Its to go along the front seat bulkheads but still retain the ability to get from the cab to the back without going outside

  3. if both the cooker unit and sink unit were swing out and/or split (demountable or slide out sideways) at /buddy seat height you've cracked it....

From experience of both, without the walkthrough it's quite a bit more cramped. Ok it's lot more cramped and being tintop even more so in my case. We used to family camp n a front hinge Westy, no way would I atempt that in mine. I have poptop envy.

I'm seriously considering moving my interior into my late Devon and selling the early. Lucky I made one that will fit LHD and RHD.

  18. I have a unit in mine that I built in July. It has the fridge in the bottom part, and then above it is a cooker (one of those 2 rings and a grill jobbies from Go Outdoors) in a cupboard above that. You can just flip up the lid and use the cooker in the van, or alternatively you slide open the door, and the cooker slides out of the side on ball bearing drawer slides so it's outside the van. Just underneath is another shelf which can slide out instead, to put my electric oven on, or to use for food preparation.

The gas bottle just sits alongside the unit at the moment, but I am just about to build a short box to cover that up and provide some further storage. I also have a Westfalia table (the one with the right-angle table leg) which will fix to the side of the unit, so it's possible to eat at the table in the van - but I also have the kit for fixing the table leg up to the jacking point outside.

My van is also a twin slider, but non-walkthrough, so I don't have the same issues regarding not blocking the walkthrough up.

  20. OK, but its dark, and the camper is in the garage. But I have gone and taken some photos with my trusty Nokia on night vision mode.

    Here is the unit:

You can open the lid and use the cooker on top:

Or, you can slide the cooker out through the side, to cook out of the side of the van:

As seen here on a recent camping trip:

Sliding the cooker out leaves a nice space, which can be filled with an electric oven, which we have found really useful:

    Like so:

Or, there is also a second shelf which slides out from below the cooker, like so:

Which you can use as a shelf for your cuppa, or to put a chopping board onto in order to prepare your meals, or, you can put the oven outside the van instead, like so:

I haven't fitted the Westfalia table leg yet, as I have to make a matching worktop.
