Rear end

  1. Whatto chaps, thinking bout getting some of those kicked rear spring plates, prolly a 3 inch one. Any one run with these? T2d do the adjustable ones and fit for just shy of £400 whereas the kicked ones are £150 then labour from local guy.

    Cheers all

  3. Got a linky mate? Can't find em

  4. TBH I don't see the point of kicked rear plates, unless you're looking at going seriously low, then you won't have to notch the spring plates...

If you're wanting to do a 3in drop, then you're looking at 4 inner, and 3 outer spline rotation...

  6. Ta dude

Paul it's about a 3/4 inch low already but the ride is nasty

  7. Sorry got interrupted

Yeah it's been turned already but it's not a great ride I thought running it stock with kick type plates might make it a better ride

    Thanks for the chart Paul

  8. Surely you would still have to take all the ride out of it by fitting stronger shocks to limit the travel to prevent it tw@ting he chassis

It won't make any difference at all. The only way to get your comfortable ride back is to fit oil shocks at full or near full height.
The kicked plates are to save modifying the carrier, the adjustables are so you can get the wheel off - hinged would be a better description.
Horshoe plates same job as kicked plates, but also reduce camber. All these things merely hang on to the wheel and don't have any effect on the ride comfort.

  10. Ok cheers zed,

Gonna leave alone I think

  11. At only 3/4in (0.75in), the ride should be spot on... If you mean 3 - 4in, then likely as not it's going to be a lack of travel issue somewhere... Shocks not short enough... Bump stops need shortening... Spring plates hitting their stops... Drive shafts hitting chassis...

Just a few things to check out

  12. Sorry mate meant 3 to 4 inch drop already

  13. Will be looking at it

  14. I dropped my about and inch and a half with Red9 plates.....stock ride quality....better handling....recommended!

  15. I've got the 4" drop spring plates on mine from Red9.
The chassis needed a slight notch as the driveshafts were hitting.

  16. cheers all

  17. Theoretically it should fail an mot with chassis mods . I am down one spline and its a pain getting wheel on and off

  18. There's a discussion on VZi about this at the moment. Technically it would need a BIVA test with chassis mods, which if it passed (very difficult) it would get a Q plate and a new chassis number.

And that's part of the reason I didn't go as far as notching even tiny notches when I lowered mine. You can still get quite low as long as you can put up with having very little suspension.
