Rear Anti-roll bar

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Dicky, Apr 22, 2013.

  1. had a look at fitting one at the weekend but didnt like the idea at the U bolt through the rear chasis rail for the front mountings as mine s a bit thin at the bottom - needs some work !(later in the year though). Was considering fabbing a U bracket, bolted through the chasis lef further up so it bolts through the sides (like the engine bar). anyone with any experience of this like to comment.

Ive got front HD ARB and be nice to see if theres much benefit from the rear, according to ratwell its a must to fit them both!!
    Comments - ta!:)

  2. Whenever I put one in I weld the spreader plate to the chassis... I'll see if I have a pic... back in 5 :)

  3. OK, here you go...

I cut the lip off the edge of the chassis rail, and then the plate gets fully seam welded on

  4. Ta - that looks a bit more like it!. Yours have got urethane bushes - mine are rubber for some reaon. Are the bobbins at the wheels urethane as well?

  5. That they are dude!! rubber is fine tho :)

    Where did yours come from?

  6. No idea originally as i got from someone who decided not to fit it. been sat in may garage forever as never got around to it. think ide best get the chasis beefed up!

  7. Just seemed like the sensible thing to do to me!! :)

  8. Fitted front and rear to mine, and changed the worn shocks.. Can't believe how much better she drives.
Should have done it years ago.

  9. Still the the rear to do on mine... Bit like Dicky I don't like thge idea of drilling holes!

  10. If you line it all up and get the plates welded on, then you can drill the holes after :)

  11. That would involve getting a welder! Or taking the van to one....with the carbs in the kitchen..... Think thus job will have to wait!

  12. Was thinking about this yesterday and the possibility of fitting large U clamps to the torsion tube to fit the mountings onto!

  13. I'm not too sure that is the wisest plan of action dude... I'm not sure that it is particularly safe!!
