So can all of these things not have been changed during a resto or are all the original parts still available? (Genuine question)
Just seems to me that people love picking faults with every bus for sale.
If these things couldn't possibly be changed during resto then I stand corrected.

I agree with you Baysearcher but (based on 4 + years n two buses) if you are going to do a resto that looks as good as the one advertised, I would go for a bit better consistency on the items described in the guys comments.
The engine lids can be sourced good for the year, not hard to do as for matching sliders I would guess later ones would be easier sourced.

  5. Engine lid hinges are 76 onwards.

  7. I agree, some bits could be replaced from late to early, but they'd have had to change the whole rear quarter to change the fuel filler cap. That, along with all the other things point to a 74 onwards bus. Imho:)

Can you get rear quarters with the flap still?

Nobody restos the fuel filler flap to something different. Fact.
Engine lid hinges? Just possibly if the hinge panel was fubarred and the restorer came across a good later lid but I very much doubt it.
There seem to be a fair few buses like this coming up for sale recently. Paint it a different colour, dispose of the possibly identifiable interior, wrong plates. Draw your own conclusions but too much "iffness" for me when there are so many well priced honest buses about at the moment. You only have to look in our very own mart section to see 2 or 3 whatever your budget.

  14. :yeah that:

The OP had his suspicions and asked. We have answered to what the van was or should be like when it left the [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow]ory to the best of our knowledge.

If too much has been changed he can then go and view the van and ask what and why :)

  15. What is a years tax ? £250 quid ? soon adds up ,i`m sure a few busses where earlierfied for this reason

I`m not clued up on converted panel vans did they not have no frills fuel cap earlier ?

  16. Any way I only looked at this post as I liked the look of the title and didn't expect this :) :)

  19. Woohhha, lots of details to think about there, does seem a lot to change around, i suppose if i was to view it and he tells me its all original then I'm armed, or he might say whats been done to it

Personally though i think ill stay away as I'm not sure and wait for another to come along and hope whoever else buys it doesn't get any problems, so many get pinched i would hate it to be someone's pride and joy they have worked on for years re plated

Thanks for all the advice guys, its nice to have people who can give you this much advise, i cant believe how much everyone knows about body parts its quite impressive really
