Propex Help!

  1. F1 is that tiny surface mount next to where it says f1.

Not sure if f1 is the fuse in question though

Yes it is the red one with 2A on it labeled F1 on the board

    Options are
1 Unplug the board and remove it then send it to propex who will replace the fuse.
2 Unplug the board and remove it then replace it yourself Maplin will do them.
3 Unplug the board and remove it then short out the fuse.

2&3 will require you tuning the board over and soldering

When i spoke to propex tec support they told me to solder a bit of wire across the 2 pins on the back as long as you had a main fuse on the battery feed.

Not sure what 2&3 will do for any warranty you could give them a call they are helpfully ask for technical

  3. Thanks Matty for that post and Birdy for off-board assistance.

  4. Matty - does the board unplug simply enough?

unplug the cables push the tab in on and pull the plug and i think some screws in each corner

  6. Thanks again. So that gloop? It's like cow gum on the board. Anything telling in that?

  7. So this is it? Doesn't look like it'll need soldering, it just popped out of its holder and easily fits back in. Perhaps the repeated complaints led them to make it more easily replaceable? If so this is quite a result for techno illiterate like me. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1370247621.721490.jpg

    Sir Arthur likes this.
  9. Thanks. I'm going to pop into Maplin shortly and see if they have one.

  10. IT LIVES!

After Maplin looked at me like I was trying to purchase powdered Unicorn horn I used that eBay link. Put the fuse in, reconnected to the battery and the unit let out a big sigh! All working properly again. Emergency over. Thanks for everyone's help.

  11. Or so I thought...

Bought two new gas bottles yesterday. Took two hours of fiddling, attaching and reattaching, swapping, venting, tooth gnashing and crying to get the heater to ignite. But now, after a week's stress, the heater, fridge and cooker are all working and ready for the IOW this week. Off to get a gas safety check this afternoon just to be sure.
