Propex Help!

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Sir Arthur, Jun 1, 2013.

  1. I've just moved the thermostat on my heatsource, so had to open it, disconnect and reconnect the terminals. I took a picture of it in situ and reconnected identically but now the unit won't turn on. No LEDs, nothing.

I've checked the fuse and it's fine. Anyone got any ideas? Might it have reset itself?

  2. Did you take the fuse out/disconnect battery before you moved it?

  3. Rather stupidly no.

  4. Just go out an buy an Eberspacher...;)

  5. It probably won't make much difference tbh but best practice :)
If the propex itself was unhappy you would be getting the blinking led's, I know you say the fuse is ok but put a new one in first off and make sure you have power going to the thermostat maybe check your connections again?

  6. Ebers are for losers :)

The thermostats look identical to the Eber ones in which case there is at least one live wire. Maybe you blew a fuse in the propex somewhere.

    If you say so. :)

  9. That only applies if your name is snotty :)

  11. I wish I had read that before doing anything today. Bugger. I have two weeks to get this sorted.

  12. I think you mean "the chosen few" :)

  13. Is there anyone local that could give me a hand with this?

    Ta.

I was fitting a propex today. You have put the wires back in the right place and order haven't you?? And they are tight and making connection?? The screw boxes in the thermostats are small and the wire is uber thin. Make sure those are correct and tight. And also check the fuse.

  15. Yup. Took a photo of the wires when it was working and tightened up everything as much as possible. I'll do it a third time tomorrow to make sure but it looks like it's the "power on - circuit board fuse blown" mistake.

I just don't trust that I can do a good enough job of uninstalling everything to open up the box.

You only need to remove the access panel where the wire go into on the propex. You don't need to remove it totally.

  17. Cheers Birdy. I'll take a look tomorrow. Then off to Maplin for a soldering kit!

  18. [IMG] Managed to partially uninstall it. Here's the PCB. Which one's the fuse? Is that gloop something to do with it?

I think we've reached and breached my comfort level here. What to do next?

  19. I'm no expert, I'm guessing the round red bit on your pic is the fuse mention on matty link, he's the person you need to speak to.

Total guess, but where it says "F1" on the board, I'd guess it must be the other side of the board?
