Propane gas

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by yorkieman, Mar 4, 2014.

  1. What do most people have the separate bulkhead regulator or clip on the tank type and what size gas tank for hob, fridge and propex heater is suitable and how long might they last?

Also are the bottles different for clip on or bulkhead regulators?

and do you use copper pipe or flexi hose for the whole run or a mix?

Photos would be much appreciated if possible.

    Thanks :)

too many variables.... but from experience there are 2 types of regulator for propane (the red bottle) - by the way i'm talking calor gas here as it's what i use, the smallest calor you can get is 3.9kg and those types use the screw in regulator - see the link to go outdoors for details.
the clip on regulator is for things like the patio gas bottle which start at 5kg and also the low weight fibreglass bottle which used to be filled by BP but now i think homebase? i originally started with a campinggaz Butane (blue) for space but this is only about 2.7kg and expensive plus doesn't work well in the cold. i then moved up to calor 3.9 but the screw on regulator annoyed me so i swapped to clip on 5kg patio they seem to last me ages and i run propex and cooker off the same feed. I use copper pipe where it's fixed to the van walls and a metre of flexi to the regulator. I had a load of pic's on my van thread somewhere i'll have a nosey.
