Tremendous effort. Superb thread title.

 

A few more. O/S B pillar, inner front wheel housing bulge bit, cargo doors, outer sill and rear arch repair.

 

Some great work, a lot of struggle but worth it, I a wary of those fresh painted buses on the well know sale site, what lies beneath, at least you know you have basket case better the devil you know, it’s a shame Vw came so popular the used to use bay windows as packing creates in the 90s from California

 

I did some Splitty welding, just the once. Compared to a wobbly flimsy bay it was most enjoyable.

Not helping my minor splitty itch though. This was on eBay a few weeks back. Thankfully all my funds are being squirreled away for a house deposit.

Other side now. Bit worse, it needed a whole rear arch. As you’ll have noticed, it’s a double door bus, so another set of cargo door bottoms to do and another set of door gaps to get right

 

You make that look easy. I know how much it isn’t. Obvious you knew what you were getting into and you know what you’re doing. Really nice work. You rust warrior Redcoats really impress me.

 

Rear corners now. One knackered, the other not to bad.

More pics. Front end this time. The van has had a crunch at some time. The right front chassis leg has been cut off, straightened, and welded back on. I replaced it with an Autocraft one. Next is new inner valance, kick panel bit(green klassicfab one), B pillar bottoms then lower front panel.

More pics. Arches, cab floor, wheel housing repairs. Not much original metal left around this bit of the van.

 

Bit of colour at last. I used tintable Raptor, with Sea Blue as the tinter. It looks bluer in these photos. It’s quite close in real life, but still a bit lighter than straight sea blue.
