Predictions for tomorrow

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Zed, May 9, 2020.

  1. The thread concerned predictions for the Prime Minister's address on sunday and what changes, if any, we anticipate to the current 'lockdown' regulations . I answered that question based on the current situation, in terms of testing capacity (and tests conducted), the daily rate of newly confirmed cases, potential issues relating to the availability of appropriate PPE for an enlarged workforce, a test and trace app which is currently in pilot (the results of which are likely to take time to process) and the fact that HSE are at pains to clarify the legal responsibilities of employers regarding their obligation to ensure suitable protection for staff. All of the above are freely available to view in the public domain. All of the above will have a direct bearing on any changes to current 'lockdown' regulations hence their inclusion. On this basis, I suggested that the government will not have much scope for 'easing' the restrictions and as such, any public announcement will be at best non definitive and at worst less clear. With the benefit of hindsight, it would appear that my predictions weren't too wide of the mark. This is of course only the opinion of a 'hand wringing expert'. I fail to see how this is painting anyone into a political corner. The facts speak for themselves whatever your political persuasion. Believe what you will

Please would somebody just ban him? He adds nothing of value to any debate, attempts to marmite stir every time and probably doesn't even own a bus.

  6. That`ll never happen , i know they`ve started and spent (wasted ??) millions already and the costs are sky-rocketing monthly . Same for the third runway at Heathrow , how can any govenment in justify either in todays current climate ??

You started your post with the names of the government.

The rest your your predictions are fair enough, then you wrote this.

“HSE are currently investigating over 50 cases of death in service (nursing and care staff) and are in consultation with the Police to consider whether corporate manslaughter charges should be applied. Without an adequate testing regime or additional PPE for an increased workforce, plus some potentially very expensive law suits in the offing”

You sound delighted. And it comes across as the motive for your delight is because of the political party in charge.....the backstory is largely irrelevant.

    Am I incorrect?

I’m sincerely pleased.....he/she absolutely has the right to an opinion, fan club, cult etc etc.

They don’t at all need to agree with me, same as I’m not required.

It’s a discussion forum, sometimes we need to talk about grown up stuff and won’t all agree with how we see it.

For me, there are important things @Dr. Schnabel has to say....I personally don’t like the disjoint between really valid points with the myopic political overview.

    Power to them.
