I am not convinced investing in property is the safest option for the future ,the banks could fall again and everyone would lose a great chunk again....

i have no kids, my long term plan is to get fat and grumpy and swear at young children while slowly dying alone in a wee stained pair of y fronts and a vest like benny hill.

 

i've paid into a teachers pension for 14 years but now i've taken redundancy i don't know what happens

 

open a nursing home , theirs money in that. beware rick thou

no, why? i guess i need to contact the pension scheme and see what i should/shouldn't do *shrugs*

 

teachers pension - teachers is a type of whisky - joke.

 

i'd imagine it gets deffered until you can claim a lump sum or start drawing on it, or a combination of the 2, i think you need to be 50? before you can do this.

Too many paint fumes as I'm still getting house sorted to sell. Long days of DIY have frazzled my brain.

It's still there - they can't nick it. It'll just be dormant. I've left a trail of pensions behind me as I've moved from job to job.

 

I gave up on putting money into a pension as the way annuities work is a joke. I'm trying to build up money in my company and that will be my pension pot in the future, with nobody able to tell me what to do with it. I don't expect to be able to retire at 65.

Im retired, not got a lot of money, it is great though!!

 

Dont want too much else you have ta pay tax n they just give it away to all n sundry!!
