Could you give me the dimensions of the panels please? I asked Green Giant but they never replied and I don’t want to buy panels that won’t fit on the roof – I have a skylight so can’t use the full length of the roof.

Thanks for that:thumbsup:. I didn’t think to look at eBay, their website doesn’t state the dimensions and they don’t answer ‘contact us’ questions – not mine anyway.:)

  4. no problem!
yeah I suspect they are a small company with limited staff, google hours of opening implies 12-4 only. I tried calling yesterday and got nowhere, but a few mins later got text message to say panels on way. The order and delivery side of things was quick!

I bought exactly the same gland box when I installed my solar panels. Mines still kicking about in the garage somewhere because I thought they were ugly and oversized as well.

That’s close enough for me; I have to convert it to inches so I know how big things really are.:D

Apparently I’m being followed – should I be worried?

  10. Got myself some cat track / towline for the cables to run from pop top to van. Ordered a couple of sizes to have a play with. This is the larger of the two..

  12. trying to decide if the brackets too much.... The key thing for me was to be able to remove the panels and replace easily when they fail

At the front its not bad at all

But at the sides it lifts it off by a reasonable amount, but I could seal that with the some double sided tape they provided or leave as is?

    Opinions welcome....

  13. So I decided the brackets aren't for me and have bonded the panels straight to the roof. Been a productive day today but wasn't able to quite finish the job as ran out of cable.

    Anyhow update below..

I wanted to use right angle connectors to get the cables from the outer side to underneath, but trying to find 90 elbow connectors for 4mm cables is tricky. So I bought the 6mm ones and just used the inners from some other connectors to slot in, like this. A nice snug fit now

Looking good and the correct decision not to use the brackets in my opinion; they look awful and offer very little support for the panel and only small adhesive points on the roof. And the panel manufacturer (Shenzhen Sungold solar Co., Ltd) recommends bonding.

Incidentally, the panel efficiency is 20.41%, not exceptional but not terrible either and they’re good value for money - I’ll be ordering two panels from Green Giant.
