Did I need to bring any cable for battery to MPPT or did you say you'd bring that?

    @anyone

If I've got any bits left over once mine is done next weekend your more than welcome to have it.

  4. personally i wouldn't bother. i have a non-mppt controller that charges both batteries but really the starter gets charged pretty quickly from the alternator. i have t set to put 10% into the starter but it isnt worth the extra expense in my eyes (mine came as part of a package.) i want to upgrade to mppt though so if you want a non mppt controller and display that charges both batteries we can come to a deal

  5. I definitely want the the MPPT, just looking for a way to get the main battery charged from solar as well, i thought maybe the split charge system might be able to handle that when Leisure Battery being charged up, but mine doesnt seem to do that. may need to check into that then...

  6. What split charge do you have?

You're bringing that coz the length (x2) will be determined by where you mount the controller in relation to the battery.
The controller geezers suggest 6mm cable but tbh it's running over a small distance so get additional 4mm, the same as you're running down from the panel.
I've got one of these for you at cost + £1.50 postage

    I have a Durite VSR
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DURITE-Sp...023101?hash=item2a4e85e0bd:g:y3QAAOxydB1SliE9

which is connected by one large cable (25mm sq I think) directly from the + terminal on the SB to the + terminal on the LB. That's it apart from the earth from the relay itself.
It is a 2 way relay, which means it'll split the alternator charge between the SB & the LB, but when you're hooked up or have the solar running then any excess charge is passed the other way, into the SB.
Possibly a more cost effective way of upgrading the system...?
I've got it already & am splitting the £3 postage charge with you , not posting it to you:D

  10. At the moment my setup is the same, intelligent relay between batteries and a 30amp fuse either side...

  11. Should work both ways then once the voltage gets up on the leisure, no dual controller required

  12. decided to go with these instead of the kits MPPT, not only is it
    1. higher rating (15A)
    2. also gives the trickle charge across at 1 Amp.
    3. The visual display unit much clearer than the MT50

  15. I wish... Already got plans which try as hard as I might can't seem to change .

  16. Top work @Andy_H_VW you will be so pleased when its all done and I predict you will become addicted to staring at the display as your batteries charge. Lovely to go to bed each day with the battery fully charged too. By the way the reason you need to mount the MPPT vertically is for heat dissipation. The panels pump out electricity when the sun shines even if you aren't using it as your battery is full and the excess is lost as heat from the heat sink at the back of the MPPT. Oh and yes, do have a fuse between the MPPT output and battery. I seem to recall you need a 10A controller for a 100w panel, I have a 20A for my 200w ones - so 15A for your 140w should be fine. My panels push out 20volts but peak power can be higher than rated so 20A has a decent safety margin.

    Cheers

You can see the grommets to stop charging in the wires where it goes through the fibreglass, no need to use glands or anything like that as it is still outside the canvas. Kept the bulkheads where it goes through the tin roof underneath the roof when up so that any rain doesn't have a chance to try and get in either
