    Knickers-knackers-knockers
So the dial did a rev and a bit as you pushed/pulled?

  6. Yes steve round the clock and a bit more so 1.33
I can see the bearing moving in the case when i push and pull on the crank and i can rotate the bearing from side to side a bit aswell

  7. Couldn't agree more, I did the same with mine ;)

  8. Has it already got shims on it?

Are you sure it is end float and not loose baffles in the exhaust...

If its a good reliable courier your looking for at reasonable costs, we use a Leeds based company, Deltec Couriers who have a network of drivers across the country, we sent 750 kgs of steel to Herefordshire for less than £30 delivered next day, pre noon.
Never let us down before & always deliver as per schedule

  11. Cheers for that mark ill bear them in mind if anyone wants some stuff doing

  12. That sounds like some interesting stuff, especially as it has a primer system too...

I do have a tube of loctite bearing lock... but I generally use it on other applications other than engine bearings :)

  13. I know it was used on the aircraft for somthing as i recall seeing it in the stores but ive never used it myself

I thought it would be a bit of a bodge on an engine but it claims it maintains an unfaltering bond under all levels of cyclic load stress distribution.
How affected by heat and oil it would be i dont know

  14. Hmmm high temp version suitable for alloy housings and use in gearboxes

The thought of glueing a bearing in place makes me shudder however there have been some amazing advances in bonding technology in the last ten years

Structural glue for body panels for one

Glue it together. You've got nothing to loose.

  16. I'm gonna be moving over to structural glue for some panel repairs to reduce/eliminate distortion... all you need to do is look at a lot of modern cars to see how good the stuff is!! Lotus uses it for attaching the rear subframe to the chassis in the elise

TBH, you're using a glue to replicate the surface friction that the case would normally apply to the bearing!! If it's cheap enough, I'd give it a punt just as a trial to see how good it is!!

  17. Ive been offerd the chance of a spare case from two late bay members which is awesome of them
If those cases dont need machining then ill accept there generous offer and all will be well

If they do need machining then i cant afford it so ill give the bearing lock a try as it has to be better than just putting it all back together and waiting for it to self distruct
Stranger things have happend at sea

If i do go for this bodge ill measure the endfloat once a month and report back my findings as it may work and help other people dubbing on a tight budget

If not then im back to square one but should be able to squeeze a few trips out of my bus

  18. I've used the loctite stuff before and it is awsome stuff, never used it in an engine though, but I reckon its worth a punt. Good luck with it which ever way you decide to go.

  19. Cheers syd

If i do glue it its all just in the interest of the experiment you understand;)
